Sanitation

A common two-part question generally on the minds of many floaters is:

 “Do I have to go into the tank fully unclothed … and how can I be confident the water is sanitized from the last floater?”

 The answer is simply this … yes, no clothing, accessories, or jewelry of any kind is allowed in the tanks for sanitary reasons, as well as for both the overall physical and spiritual aspects of the experience.  It is easy to understand how even the feel of any kind of clothing becomes an attachment to the ‘physical’ awareness, and thusly distractive to the sense of upliftment and overall experience to come from each session.  In the tanks you are intensely in tune with your Body and Mind, and can truly let everything go and enjoy the ride.  It’s fun!

Every session occurs in absolute privacy behind a closed (yet accessible) pod lid, behind a float room door, and in fact the entire chill out lounge area right outside the room as well.  No need to feel inhibited. The wearing of any bathing suits, etc. is not considered an option; your birthday suit is in fact the best way to traverse these potentially transcendental inner and outer space-traveling moments. 

And not to sound cheeky, but as active floaters ourselves we value the hygienic environment for our own private bits, as well as our clients.   Rest assured our Dreampods are 100% sanitized for each and every flotation experience.  Beyond the mandatory pre-float shower at our spa, there are a multitude of measures in place to ensure the cleanliness of the pods, and the confidence consumers can enjoy. We not only promote the flotation experience to our clients, we also enjoy the experience ourselves on a regular basis, and are constantly monitoring and the tanks through a variety of certified methods.

Here’s a brief rundown of the numerous ways in which the sanitary standards are maintained on a constant basis:

Each tank contains approximately 600 kilos of pharmaceutical grade magnesium sulphate  which acts as both a powerful cleansing agent, as well as providing perfect buoyancy in the tanks.  That alone ensures an absolutely hygienic and bacteria-free environment 24 hours a day.

 We schedule our floatation appointments in staggered slots of 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm deliberately.  Let it be an extra measure of confidence in our cleanliness.  The same water that was in the tank for the previous floater is not the same water for the next floater.  The filtering process is highly advanced.  Each unit is both sophisticated … and self-sustaining.  They are truly a miracle of invention - and you will enjoy all the benefits from the most up-to-date model, and reliable technologies.


Our tanks sport an industrial-grade polypropylene micron bag- filtration system, which will filter contaminants as small as 1 micron, which for reference is 1/4 the diameter of a stand of human hair.  That is effective! This is paired with a powerful motor, which will drive water through the filter at the rate of three complete water changes in 15 minutes, allowing the tank to thoroughly clean the float solution thoroughly in time for the next float.

Our Dreampods are computer-monitored with the latest software and hand-tested on a mandated basis … and all the technologies and practices are CE- certified.  The entire volume of water is filtered at least three cycles between sessions.  In addition to the already cleansing presence of the high concentration of Epson salt - hydrogen peroxide(35% food grade) and chlorine are released into the solution through a state-of-the-art computer-regulated system, after passing under a powerful UV lamp each time the water is cycled.

 As a compound, hydrogen peroxide is a powerful oxidizing agent routinely used as an antiseptic in homes and hospitals, as well as in water purification disinfection, in both a small or large scale. It breaks down into oxygen and water when used, and is odorless. We treat our tanks with chlorine as needed to further insure the decontamination process, (though only when the shop is closed to minimize customer contact with chemicals).  As a reference point, the overall salinity level in the Dreampod   surpasses the level of mineral salt in the Dead Sea.  In fact, it is 10 times ‘saltier’ than normal ocean seawater. This level of salinity will kill off all forms of viruses and bacteria, rendering the water inert and hygienic.
